I came across with this restaurant very recently when I got invite from them for food tasting. In Dubai a foodie has so many options when it comes to choice of restaurants, so many restaurants are new and struggling to make there space in the market. Zima is also a newly open restaurant, and here I am sharing my food tasting experience
Location wise I give this place full mark as it is located in world trade center, just beside the Crowne plaza. The ambiance is second best part of this restaurant, lovely and very classic. The level is taken up a bit with chairs, you have hanging chairs for fun. The decor has very classic and wooden touch with contemporary artistic feature, loved it
Service is quick and staff is polite. Since it was a tasting session, we get to try so many things, some of them were really good, and some needs little improvement, so here is my take on food
FRENCH GRATIN ONION SOUP I like soups, since they insisted to try the soup, onion soup is my first choice as I like that cheesy and thick texture of it. They made it really very nice and heavy, I was full in few sips only, heavy and delicious is the word
BLOOMING ONION usually it is little messy to have blooming onion. I like if its made with perfect ingredients and is not too oily. They gave a dip along with the blooming onion, and combination was just perfect. Blooming onion was little oily though, but I liked it till last bite.
GRILLED SHRIMP my most favorite of the evening. I loved the way they presented it with fries in between with grilled shrimp around. The shrimp tasted so good and they were cooked with perfection, I could taste the charcoal flavor in every bite, nicely done
SEAFOOD RISOTTO i am not that risotto lover, but they made it really good. The risotto rice was cooked with perfection. Menu has other variety in risotto, we chose sea food risotto. The seafood taste was intact perfectly in every bite, the quantity was also good
FETTUCCINE ALFREDO I am big white sauce lover. I can have it without pasta too, we were already full, but the staff insisted us to have pasta, so we chose fettuccine Alfredo. They served it with grilled chicken and button mushroom; I liked the taste a lot
CREME BRULEE restaurant has a dessert counter, just when you enter. I love creme brule, this classic French dessert never go wrong. Every bite just melted in my mouth so well, creamy and smooth, simply wow. The upper part was bit hard but when you dig in, melts in your mouth
Final Verdict – Overall I had very nice experience in Zima. The hospitality is something I should highlight here, and the ambiance is rustic and modern that in one look you will say wow. Food wise some improvement is required. They can make it much better.
