Name itself gives you an idea that it is some royal, authentic restaurant, which serves food from Delhi, India origin. Delhi has very rich origin of many mouth-watering dishes. Kebabs, parathas and many other delicacies comes from Delhi. Saleem’s of Delhi has tried to keep those flavors in the food they serve. I thoroughly enjoyed my recent visit here.
This restaurant is located in Al Karama, and not very difficult to find it as in is located in the main road. The ambiance is very attractive and colorful as it reflects the Mughal and royal side of India. Colorful wall paintings along with contemporary touch is very refreshing. Menu is very colorful and has many authentic dishes added. Service is very good and prompt
I get to try veg and non veg both starters and main course dishes. Each and every spices comes from India and you can taste he difference. Here is my take on food.
In this heat we started our food drive with TORNADO TWIST cranberry juice sparkle of lemon soda, refreshing and beautiful looking drink. Very different I tried was CUCUMBER JULEP it was perfect summer drink as it had twist of lemon juice. I cherished my childhood memories with LIME COLA it tasted very similar to jal jeera, with twist of cola and lemon juice.
If you are in a restaurant which serves Delhi food, expectation is to have that authentic charcoal flavors, I tried non veg starters. MUTTON SEEKH KEBAB was made with authentic spices and you can taste it. BADSHAHI KALMI KEBAB was a delightful preparation with chicken thigh. BHATTI KA MURG consist special Bhatti ka special masala, and finished with lemon juice
The vegetarian starters were very authentic as well, where I tried very new dish ANARI PANEER TIKKA, it was more on the sweet side, but I liked how it was done. The other one was DAHI KE SHOLEY bread crust filled with hung curd along with some spices, loved it. KAJU MATAR PUDINA TIKKI had very subtle flavors perfect balance , but tasted very delicious, loved it.
In main course I had SHAHI QORMA which was made with very strong spices and tasty too. The other one was MURG MUSALLAM this is a very authentic Awadhi dish with rich masala along with chicken pieces. ALOO UDAIGIRI was made with fresh tomato and onion gravy and fresh herbs, all of it tasted good with assorted breads, KHAMIRI ROTI tasted best.
Now the best part is desserts, they serve authentic desserts, and I tried SHAHI TUKDA this was very delicious and quantity was so good, creamy and full of nuts, very authentic and delectable. KESARI KHEER was served in clay pot, and tasted very authentic as well. The kheer was very chilled and thick. The food ending was very delicious, I must say
Final Verdict – Saleem’s of Delhi takes you to those narrow streets of Delhi, and gives you a glimpse of authentic and delicious food. I loved the menu and dishes included in it. The ambiance is very refreshing with addition of so many colors and the staff is very courteous and service is also very prompt.
